Happy happy birthday!!

YAY! It's Ryders birthday!!! How exciting is that?! A whole year old!

On the 1st day of Ryder...

my true love gave to me....a grown up baby, a trip to the zoo, play dates, a birthday party and the stomach flu.

My baby...my dear sweet baby grew up. He's a year old. What happened? Where did that year go? Everyone always says "cherish the moments when they're little because they grow up so fast." And it's true. I never knew a year could go by so quickly.
Look at him...so silly. So big.
There are no words to express the feeling of a child growing up. A year old? Really? It can't be possible. It was yesterday that I was holding him, looking at him thinking, he is SO tiny. How am I going to take care of him? I'm not a  mom, I'm a full time student, a full time worker, a partier, a selfish child. That's what I am. Not a  mother.
It all changed at 10:14 pm on June 14th 2009. My life became diapers, breastfeeding, pumping, crying, laughing, emotional roller coasters, diaper rash, sickness, playing, reading, etc.
And when I say roller coaster....I'm talking about this

There were times that I was ready to give up, times that I cried so hard and so long I thought I would run out of tears, times I laughed so hard I peed a little, times of an overwhelming feeling of joy, times that I wanted to run away screaming. Most of all, times I felt a love so strong I didn't think it was possible.
This month we went to the zoo and had two playdates. These were big deals for us because we never really took Ryder anywhere with other kids. He's very social, but we just never took him out. He had a lot of fun at all the places we went this month, and I love that he's such a good child.
He's polite, he's social, he's happy, he's healthy. I did a good job I must say. :)
He even went to his first farmers market with Taylor & Jenn

We also had his first 1st birthday party at home in Arizona. He is spoiled, and so he's getting another birthday party on Saturday with all his California family and friends!! It's going to be amazing, so keep on the lookout for that post in the near future.

I cannot believe it's been a year, yes I know I already said that, but I can't. It's too soon. He can't grow up yet. He just can't. I'm not ready.

I love you Ryder. You are my world.

On the 2nd day of Ryder....

my true love gave to me....family photos, adult food, and funny sleeping.

My little man started eating grown up food! Look, he had roast with potatoes and carrots!
And he LOVED it! I started cooking a lot more when we found Bountiful Baskets. A wonderful Co-Op, that does weekly baskets for $15! I will have more posts about this wonderful organization later.
Ryder also started rolling over completely during sleep. Which is cute, but a little dangerous when he sleeps in his lazy boy!
He rolled out of the chair, and then continued to roll over until he found a comfy spot. :)
We also got our family photos taken by Kacy Hughs over at Kacy Hughs Photography. I actually won this session through another blog I follow, Hoping For Peas.

On the 3rd day of Ryder....

my true love gave to me....a rash, a trip to San Francisco and lots of smiles.

He loves playing with blocks! So I thought I would take advantage of it. He mainly loves to throw them and hit things with them.
I watch Gilmore Girls every day. I've seen the entire series about 5 times already, but I still have to watch it everyday. That being said, Ryder loves the show. Every time the theme song comes on, he stops what he's doing to watch the TV
So cute! Now, time for some random photos.
Happy Easter!!
I'm such a happy boy!
I <3 Mickey. And, I <3 looking like my daddy in basketball shorts and a plain white T
I couldn't be any happier!!
I also couldn't be any cuter!!
I <3 to jump!!!

So during this month, my sister called to ask me to come out to her new house in San Francisco to watch my neice while she did orientation for her new job, and while she figrued out who would watch my neice while she was working. So, off Ryder and I went on Easter morning. But before we left we had to make an emergency trip the the doctor, not like emergency room embergency, just worried mother emergency. One day we woke up and found this

It got worse each day. So we took him into the doctor, and got some prescription lotion, and after a few days it went away.
My sisters house was beautiful. Classic San Francisco house. Long and narrow. Ryder fell in love with this window. He spent a lot of time looking out of it, and just relaxed sitting in front of it.
He also fell in love with this toy. He would just run around in circles for hours! I'm surprised he wasn't so dizzy to throw up!

We also had our first trip to the park. Ryder didn't like it. He didn't like the swing, he hated the slide, and wasn't impressed with the sand box. :(

On the 4th day of Ryder....

9 month check up.
19 pounds, 4 ounces     13th percentile
29 3/4 inches    74th percentile
47 cm   81st percentile.

So, as you can see he is STILL long, skinny with a big head. :)

The 9th month wasn't really an eventful month for milestones. But it was a big month for playing. He found his tounge and loved to kiss the sliding glass door.

I know I know that picture sucks, but it's from my cell phone, so gimmie some credit. He would constantly walk over to the window and just start making out with it. Cutest thing ever!! Daddy finally got to play with his little man on a daily basis as Ryder was becoming more coordinated and independent. He would just sit on the floor and play with his toys all by himself. Very cute, and very nice for mommy!
Since he started standing, he destroyed his mobile. So, he just started playing with his Mickeys and Plutos. Daddy loves putting things on Ryders head, just to see them fall down, and the expression on his face.
Also, since he found out that he could stand up, he did it on everything. Including his lazy boy. This is after a fall off the top of the chair.
He fell over, the chair fell on top of him, and he just stayed there. For, no kidding, 10 minutes. He just layed tehre with the chair on top of him. Yes, that looks like he's on the bed, but he's not. That's the living room floor; with his hand eye coordination getting better he was picking up everything out of the carpet and putting it in his mouth, so we now live in a sea of blankets!
We brought this lion home from California, one of our friends was nice enough to give it to us. Ryder fell in love with it, the roar and the song it would do got quite annoying after Ryder found out that if he pressed the nose, it made noise.
That head to the side thing was one of his new favorite things to do. He's saying, "What?" Very confused little man sitting on that lion, not knowing what to do. We tried to teach him how to use it, but to this day, he still doesn't get it.
He learned new things everyday....like how to climb
Silly little boy. A few minutes after this photo was taken, he fell, and cried. Poor baby. He always found new ways to play with his toys. Example:
He would crawl under there to get torture the kitty, and then just relax in there for a while, then couldn't get out. Very funny!! He loved to relax, just chill in his lazy boy, take a nice relaxing walk in the stroller...
He was figuring out that the car seat/stoller meant he was going out! He loved it. If the car seat was in the living room, he would crawl over to it and examine it, then look at me and give me that look, "where are we going? can we go now?"

We also had some surprise visitors. My two best friends from high school! They were on thier way to Texas...reason I'm not sure of. But they broke down about an hour away. So, instead of spending money on a hotel, they came over and stayed the night with us. It was a great time, catching up on old times and just seeing them.

It was such a short visit, so it was very sad to see them go. Ryder loved them as well. I was extremely happy to have been able to see them after so many years!
And now, I leave you with my favorite photo.

On the 5th day of Ryder...

my true love gave to me....sitting up, 2 more teeth , zombie crawls, real crawls, standing up and super cuteness!!!

As you can see Ryders 8th month here on earth was incredible!!!
On January 20th, he rolled over and sat up all by himself!! It was such a fun thing to see him do for the first time. Exactly a week later, he started crawling backwards. Weird little child, I know this. But he would just scoot his little self backward. Very cute thing to see. Exactly one week later he started what I call a zombie crawl! He would lay on his tummy and just kinda pull himself around without using his legs. Again, weird little child. Almost exactly a week later, I don't know what's with him and learning things in a week, he started to really crawl! Then all bets were off. We had to get gates and bumpers and all that.
On February 7th, this happened.
Cam stood him up on his exersaucer, and he actually stood there and played! His balance was unbeleivable!
7 days later on the 14th, he pulled himself to standing all by himself!! WOW, my little boy was growing up so fast.
We also found out that he was little gymnast.
Getting ready to dismount. He got a 10.0 from all the judges. He won the competition hands down!
He also found out that his favorite snacks were baby cheetos. He loves them!! His hand-eye coordination was getting so much better day by day. And with the two additional teeth I found on January 25th, it was a lot of fun for him to crunch on them!
This is the month that he also started exhibiting mommy like tendencies during sleep. :) Cam says I'm a crazy sleeper...I don't think I am, but then again, I'm asleep so what do I know?

See that green blankie at the top he's cuddling? That's Softie 2.0. I have my Softie, he's yellow with stars. I've had him since I was a baby; my grandmothr gave him to me. And yes, I am a weirdo that needs to be studied because I still sleep with him every night. Ryder has his own softie, he's green with stars. My grandmother gave him to him...weird right? I swear she puts spells on blankets. He carries it everywhere he goes, just like I did. He has to have it to sleep, just like I did, and still do. :) It's very cute, and very frustrating. I know how my mom felt now.
And now for the crème de la crème of photos from this month.

On the 6th Day of Ryder....

my true love gave to me....Christmas, a road trip, and meeting a lot of family.

We are not Arizona natives. Well Cam kinda is, but we both are from California. Both of our families live in Northern California. We miss it. A lot. So for Christmas the three of us drove up there! Crazy right? Doing a 13 hour drive with a 6 month old? Nope. It was cake!! We broke the trip up into two days. The first day we drove to Riverside to stay with my sister for the night. Ryder met his aunt and his cousin for the first time. They were all very excited about this.
Isla, my neice, just made Ryder laugh and laugh. She's a cutie isn't she?

Then, we drove up to Sacramento, where we're from. We got to my parents house, and it was just like being "home." You know that feeling right? When you go back to your parents, and there's just this thing inside you repeatedly saying "home, home, home, home..."? Yeah, that's the feeling I got. And it was wonderful for Ryder to be around his family.
Christmas is always a big planning extravaganza, as I'm sure it is with anyone that has both sets of parents in one area, so you're obligated to go both! We usually do Christmas Eve and Christmas morning with my family, and Christmas afternoon and dinner with Cams family.
Being that it was Ryders first Christmas, it was especially special!!
He got some pretty cool new toys, that he still loves. And of course he had on his "babys first christmas" gown!!
The Kimball family is quite large! One daughter and 5 sons! Plus 10 grandkids! So obviously, there was a lot of people to meet.
Those are all the adults and four of the grandkids. Big family right?
Ryder also met my aunt, my uncle and his boyfriend. *No, you didn't misread that*

My uncle isn't much of a kid person, but let me tell you, I was scared I wasn't going to get Ryder back!!
And of course Ry had to meet Santa! I don't have that actual photo on the laptop, but I do have this one of us in the outfit he wore to meet the big guy.
Little gentleman he is. :)
But who needs to meet Santa when.....

you ARE Santa?! And who better to fly the sleigh than Ryder the Reindeer!?
Not only do I have Ryder The Reindeer on a coffee cup, but this was the holiday card last year. Who could deny that face?!
Ryder also had a few firsts this month. His first bath in a sink and his first splash!

And his first cookie thingy. Messiest things around, but he liked it.
I think the grandmas enjoyed our time in California more than anyone else on earth. Though this picture doesn't look like fun, it was. And I think this picture is classic so I have to share it!

And then there's this one, Ryder is "cooked" as we say. *Not like a chicken or anything, just meaning he's totally asleep so feel free to move about the cabin*

and since Cam got a new hat for Christmas, Ryder had to try it on just to make sure it was ok for dad
